Shamim Rouhani Transferred to Prison

According to a “BahaiNews” report, Shamim Rouhani, a Baha’i citizen residing in Ahwaz, was transferred to prison in order to start his prison sentence.

Earlier, on Tuesday 5th November 2013, Shamim was arrested, his house was searched, and his religious books along with personal items such as mobile phone, computer and some documents were confiscated. Then he was transferred to the remand centre of the Ministry of Information.

According to the same report, Shamim Rouhani was earlier sentenced to 12 months of incarceration and two years of exile from Khuzestan province by the Revolutionary Court of Ahwaz. His charges were “propaganda against the regime” and “membership in Baha’i administration”.

Initially Shamim Rouhani was arrested in November 2013; after a few months he was freed on bail.
