According to “BahaiNews” Mina Mohammadi, a resident of Birjand, South Khorasan province, was expelled from the university because of her belief in the Baha’i faith.

According to this Baha’i student in November 2015 with finishing college at the University of Applied Sciences, Birjand 1, she went to the admission office at the University in order to receive her associate’s degree and enroll in the undergraduate program. However, when arriving at the office, she was told by the University Security agents that according to the law this Baha’i citizen is not allowed to receive education or enroll in the university.

The Baha’is After follow-up on her status at the university she realizes that she has been expelled. The University, by the order of the Security Director, she receives only the transcript of the units completed and the Applied Science registration forms. She was told “she was expelled due to her faith on orders that came from higher authorities.”

In recent days, a number of Baha’is who was attending the universities has also been expelled from the university after being identified as Baha’is.
The first Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948, declares the right to education for all people equally, regardless of race, color, creed, religion or sexuality.

In recent years, the authorities at the Iranian universities have suspended education for the Baha’i students by labeling their registration with “Defect in dossier” and it seems that this trend will continue this year as well.

Ostracizing the Iranian Baha’is from access to higher education in the Iranian universities plus banning them from employment in IRI government organizations in Iran cited under an Act approved by “The Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution,” dated February 25, 1991 (Esfand 6, 1369).
According to the third paragraph of this resolution, the government entities not only should prevent the Iranian Baha’is from enrollment in the universities, but they should expel the student after registration and during their education if they are identified as a Baha’i.
Exclusion of Baha’is in Iran after the Islamic Revolution and with the establishment of the Cultural Revolution has been systematically implemented.
