According to “BahaiNews”, Sahba Avazpour and Rabee’ Khalili have been expelled from the University of Applied Science of Kermanshah because of their Baha’i religious beliefs.
According to the report, the two Baha’i citizens were expelled after they had already attended and finished the first semester. Now they have been expelled from the University due to their religious beliefs.
According to informed sources, when the two students visited the finance department of the university to pay the remainder of their fees, they were informed that they had been permanently expelled. The reason for the expulsion was mentioned, and they quoted: “You know very well why!”
The first Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was published on the 10th of December, 1948, acknowledges and promotes the right to education for all people, regardless of their race, skin color, creed, religious beliefs and sexuality.
In recent years Baha’i students have been denied admission to universities for reasons such as “incomplete application form”, and it seems that the same trend will continue this year.

The Islamic Republic’s efforts to deny Baha’is access to higher education was outlined in a memorandum which was drawn up by the Iranian Supreme Revolutionary Cultural Council (ISRCC) in 19912.The memorandum specifies that Baha’is should be denied “Goverment positions” and “Higher education”.The second paragraph of the memorandum specifies that Baha’is “must be expelled from universities, either in the admission process or during the course of their studies, once it becomes known that they are Baha’is.”

Baha’i’s have been systematically prosecuted and denied higher education since the implementation of the so-called “Cultural Revolution”, shortly after the Islamic revolution in 1979.
