Nava Kholousi and her father Manouchehr Kholousi

HRANA News Agency – Nava Kholousi, a Baha’i serving a four-and-one-half year sentence at Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad, was released from prison the evening of September 6, 2017.  She was greeted by welcoming family and friends. Her sister, Nika Kholousi, remains in prison.

Nava Kholousi and her sister Nika, both residents of Mashad, were arrested together and charged with “promoting Baha’i Faith and propaganda against the Islamic regime as well as membership in the Baha’i organization.”  Their trial was held May 13, 2013. According to a ruling by the first court, Nika Kholousi was sentenced to six years imprisonment and Nava Kholousi was sentenced four-and-a- half years imprisonment.

Manouchehr Kholousi, father of Nika and Nava, was also imprisoned in the Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad since October 6, 2016.  Mr. Kholousi was released from prison on July 31, 2017, after finishing his one-year sentence.  Like his daughters, he was charged with “promoting Baha’i Faith and propaganda against the Islamic regime as well as membership in the Baha’i organization.”
