The following report was posted on Sunday, May 31, 2009, by Iran Press News:

On Thursday, May 21, 2009, a wedding ceremony was held for Sahar Purhusayni (a Baha’i from Semnan) and Iqan Imamverdi (a Baha’i from Kerman), in an orchard near Karaj.

Through coordination with authorities in the region, three agents of the Ministry of Intelligence pretended that they are guests and attended the wedding reception from the beginning of the event.  After a while, they introduced themselves and began to film and photograph the guests.  Before doing so, however, they asked the ladies present to put on their overcoats and scarves.

The agents also confiscated one of the musical instruments and after discussions with the owner of the orchard and parents present at the gathering – a discussion that lasted about 2 hours – left the event at 10 pm before the arrival of the bride and groom.

The agents showed no disrespect or brutality, and from the onset, they announced that they had no intention to disrupt the wedding ceremony.  It is noteworthy also that near the said orchard, several other wedding parties were taking place, which experienced no such disruption.  The owner of the orchard maintained that in the past several years no similar incident had ever taken place in any event that he hosted.

It should also be noted that Purhusayni family is one of the 20 Baha’i families in Semnan whose home was raided and searched by the agents of the Ministry of Intelligence stationed in Semnan on December 15, 2008.

These agents are not paid enough because Iran is bankrupt due to sanctions. So they steal what they can under their agents clothing to sell and make money. During the day they chant slogans and show their fists. After that they walk around town steal what they can and sell vodka and whisky. If I were Aya Khamanei, I would search those agents’ homes. He will find more than a musical instrument there. With agents like that, Iran’s security continued to be a myth.
