Mr. Peyman Kashfi was arrested in Tehran on 27 Mehr, 1388 (19 Oct., 2009). Mr Kashfi received an order on 26 Mehr, 1388 (18 Oct., 2009), to present himself to the Revolutionary Court on 27 Mehr (19 Oct.). He did so, and never returned home that night. When the family of Mr Kashfi contacted the Court to ask of his whereabouts on 28 Mehr (20 Oct.), they were told that he is in section 209 of Evin Prison, and that “he is aware” of his charges; however, he is not permitted to have any visitors for the next two months. The prison authorities refused to deliver clothing and personal effects that Mr. Kashfi’s family had prepared for him.

As i understand it, Iranian law says that no one can be held for more than a month without formal charges, though often this imprisonment is renewed without charges from month to month for Baha’is. However, in this case the authorities have admitted that they have determined to keep Mr Kashfi longer than allowed. Charges are a cheap currency in Iran, so this is just to show their freedom to punish the family also. The veils are indeed being dropped.

“. . .Be Thou my sufficing helper against the mischief of whosoever may desire to inflict sorrow upon me or wish me ill. Verily, Thou art the Lord of all created things. Thou dost suffice everyone, while no one can be self-sufficient without Thee.” – The Báb
