The condition of two Baha’is in prison named [Mrs.] Sonia Ahmadi and Mr. Ghanvatiyan, who were arrested on the 11th of Aban [2 Nov. 2009], is unknown.

Human Rights Activists News Agency, Religious Minorities Rights: According to a report from the Baha’i Committee of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the condition of two Baha’is in Mashhad named [Mrs.] Sonia Ahmadi and Mr. Ghanvatiyan, who were arrested on the 11th of Aban [2 Nov. 2009] by the Office of Intelligence of Mashhad, is unknown, and is a cause of great concern to their families.

According to reports from close friends to the families of the individuals mentioned above, since Mr. Ghanvatiyan was a Muslim prior to becoming a Baha’i, [it is being speculated that] he may have been pressured to return to Islam; it is also possible that Sonia Ahmadi may be claimed to be the person who converted him to the Baha’i faith. It is important to note that all of Mr. Ghanvatiyan’s family is Muslim; he joined the Baha’i community more than 30 years ago before the Islamic Revolution [of Iran in 1979].

God bless Mr. Ghanvatiyan and dear Ms. Ahmadi. To become a Baha’i is to return to true Islam (“Submission”). This is why the Muhammed the Prophet (PBUH) said that Abraham was a “Muslim,” Moses was a “Muslim,” and Jesus was a “Muslim.” In other words a faithful man is a “Submitter.” In this day, submission lies in acceptance of the Teachings of Baha’u’llah. May my soul be a ransom for Mr. Ghanvatiyan and Ms. Ahmadi; for their condition is utterly known to God.
