On June 9, 40 people wearing white gathered in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, kicking off the Brazilian support to free the seven Bahá’í leaders, five man and two women, prisoners of conscience facing their 4th court trial on June 12th. A local newspaper, Correio Brasiliense and a radio news agency, Agência Radioweb, covered the event.

Two Congressmen, Mr. Luiz Couto and Mr. Paulo Delgado, attended the event, which also counted with the support of the Commission of Human Rights and Minorities of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. Participants wore masks of the seven Bahá’í prisoners of conscience and offered prayers in Portuguese and Persian. The participants gathered in front of the Brazilian National Congress, where a banner measuring 5X2 meters was displayed. The names of the seven Bahá’í prisoners of conscience are: Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Mahvash Sabet, Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Vahid Tizfahm.
