(RAHANA 29-Sep-2010) A Baha’i, Leva Khanjani, has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.
RAHANA: Leva Khanjani, an education deprived resident of the Baha’i faith who has been in detention since January 3rd has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.
According to the Population of Combat Against Educational Discrimination, she was released on bail from the Rajaei Shahr Prison [Also known as Gohardast Prison] on March 1st. It is noteworthy that Leva Khanjani is the granddaughter of Jamaleddin Khanjani, one of the 7 Baha’i leaders who had been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
Leva Khanjani’s husband, Babak Mobasher, who was detained along with her, was released on bail on March 13th.

What a shame, and as seems to be the custom in Iran, there are no grounds for these sentences. No evidence of wrongdoing other than the government does not agree with the thoughts and beliefs of these non-violent, upstanding and moral people.

It seems that unable to break down the high spirits of the prisoners, they are putting pressure on their families. History will show that these seven heroic angels who accepted the burden of openly coordinating the spiritual life of an outlawed community, knowing that the members of the two elected bodies that preceded them were abducted and assassinated, are serving the best interests of all humanity.
Not only are the Iranian authorities unable to silence them, but the whole planet will now echo the message they are bravely upholding: humanity cannot survive without moral values provided by religion and the true purpose of religion is to promote love fellowship and prosperity and not to be an instrument of alienation, hatred and violence.
