As reported by “Bahainews”, Bahareh Norouzi, a Baha’i citizen residing in Shiraz, has been arrested by security agents of that province this afternoon, 3 October 2016.
According to a report by “Bahainews”, Ministry of Intelligence agents went to the home of Bahareh Norouzi at 2 PM, arrested her and transferred her to the office of the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Shiraz, known as “Number 100”.
This Baha’i citizen was arrested in Shiraz, on the day when Farzad Delaram and Rouhieh Nariman were also arrested at their homes in the morning.
“Bahainews” also published the news of the arrest of 14 Baha’i citizens last week. All of these Baha’i citizens continue to be detained at Number 100 in Shiraz. Informed sources have told “Bahainews” that these individuals were arrested using violence. Despite follow up by their families, no response has been given by the judiciary or the Public Prosecutor’s office of the province.
In previous years, Baha’i citizens in different provinces have been repeatedly arrested. The Islamic Republic states that Baha’i citizens enjoy citizenship rights in Iran. However, after the Revolution, Baha’i citizens have been denied all citizenship rights in Iran, including the right to education, the right to employment in government entities, etc.
