On Sunday, November 3, the businesses of three Baha’i citizens in Qaemshahr were sealed by local authorities from the Public Places Supervision Office. This action followed a two-day religious observance by the Baha’i community.

According to information received by HRANA, the businesses affected were Sohraab Laqaee Azar’s eyeglass shop, Kamran Babaee’s refrigerator repair shop, and Kamran Abedini’s stationery store, all belonging to Baha’i residents of Qaemshahr.

A relative of these citizens told HRANA, “Saturday and Sunday were Baha’i religious holidays. Because these Baha’i citizens closed their shops for observance, their businesses were sealed by Public Places authorities.”

The sealing of Baha’i-owned businesses under various pretexts has previously occurred in Iran.

This action, in line with similar practices from previous years, takes place despite Article 28, Clause B of the Trade Law, which allows business owners up to 15 days of closure annually without notifying the guild.

Baha’i citizens close their businesses for nine scattered days throughout the year in observance of religious rituals. However, despite the citizens’ clear legal and civil rights to practice their faith and manage their businesses, authorities continue to seal Baha’i-owned establishments.
