Iranian security forces have raided the home of a Baha’i woman, confiscating electronic devices and religious books.
According to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, agents from the Ministry of Intelligence searched the residence of 39-year-old Golriz Nourani, a computer specialist, on Saturday afternoon.
During the raid, the agents seized various electronic devices, including her mobile phone, as well as books related to the Baha’i faith.
This is not the first time Nourani’s home has been targeted. On August 9, 2022, security forces conducted a similar raid, confiscating digital devices, Baha’i religious literature, jewelry, and personal photographs belonging to her and her husband, Mehrzad Zehraei.
Baha’is in Iran have long faced persecution for their religious beliefs and are frequently accused of espionage or acting against the government.
However, the Baha’i International Community maintains that no evidence has ever been presented to substantiate these claims.
Over the past two years, the Iranian government has intensified its crackdown on members of the Baha’i faith, imprisoning dozens on spurious charges, denying them access to higher education and employment, and confiscating or destroying their properties.
In its latest annual report, Human Rights Watch described the systematic suppression and denial of basic rights to Baha’is as a crime against humanity.
