According to Hrana News Agency, the news outlet of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Samira Shakib and Mojdeh Bahamin, Baha’i citizens residing in Baharestan, Isfahan, have been summoned.
Based on a recent notification issued by the Second Branch of Sentence Execution at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Isfahan and conveyed to these two Baha’i women, Ms. Shakib and Ms. Bahamin have been instructed to appear at the mentioned branch within 10 days to pay a fine of 50 million tomans.
In early 2021, the homes of Mojdeh Bahamin and Samira Shakib were searched by security forces.
These Baha’i citizens were later, in May 2023, along with 13 other Baha’i citizens, sentenced by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan on charges of “engaging in educational and promotional activities against Islamic law” to five years of imprisonment, a 50 million toman fine, five years of deprivation from social services, and a two-year ban on leaving the country. However, upon appeal, the case was returned to the Revolutionary Court to address procedural flaws.
Ultimately, after the retrial of the individuals and the resubmission of the case to the appellate court, Ms. Shakib and Ms. Bahamin were, in November 2023, each sentenced by the 37th Branch of the Appellate Court of Isfahan Province to pay a fine of 50 million tomans.
