Today, Saturday, May 10, Paridokht Shojaei Bagheini, a Bahá’í resident of Kerman, returned to the city’s prison after her furlough ended.

A source close to the family of this Bahá’í citizen confirmed the news to Hrana and said: “Ms. Shojaei was sent on furlough in late February last year. Following the authorities’ refusal to extend the leave, Ms. Shojaei returned to Kerman Prison today, Saturday, May 10, 2025. Additionally, this Bahá’í citizen had requested to serve the remainder of her sentence under electronic monitoring outside of prison, but this request was also denied by the authorities.”

Paridokht Shojaei Bagheini was sent to Kerman Prison on December 31, 2024, to serve her sentence. Previously, the Kerman Court of Appeals sentenced her to two years and one month of imprisonment and five years of deprivation of social rights.

Initially, in the preliminary stage, she was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Kerman to a fine and deprivation of social rights. After some time, the verdict against Ms. Shojaei was overturned in an ambiguous process, and she received a notice informing her of her imprisonment and social rights deprivation in an absentee court ruling.

Paridokht Shojaei was arrested along with a number of other Bahá’ís in Kerman in July 2023 and was released after a while on bail.

According to the annual statistics of the Center for Statistics, Publishing, and Works of Human Rights Activists in Iran, during the period from January 1, 2024, to December 20, 2024, 157 reports were registered by the Statistics Center in the field of religious and faith-based minority rights. Among these, Bahá’ís accounted for 67.54% of the reports, placing them at the top of human rights observers’ monitoring.
