HRANA – Religious Minority Rights: According to the Baha’i Committee of Human Rights Activists in Iran, Mr. Sepehr Rowshan, a Baha’i in the city of Bushehr, was subpoenaed by the Office of Intelligence for attending a Baha’i gathering on Wednesday, the 4th of Azar [22 Dec. 2009].
Agents of the Ministry of Intelligence, after interrogating Mr. Sepehr Rowshan, informed him that holding Baha’i gatherings is prohibited according to the Prosecutor General of the Country. After two hours of interrogations and threats, the agents, whose objective was to persuade him to collaborate with the [Ministry of] Intelligence, allowed him to leave.
Over the course of the last few months, many Baha’is have been subpoenaed to appear at the information bureaus of the Ministry of Intelligence in various cities in Iran for attending [Baha’i] religious gatherings.
