HRANA – Intelligence agents arrested Manouchehr Kholousi, a Baha’i resident of Mashhad to carry out his one-year prison sentence one month before the arrest warrant’s due date.

According to the news organization Human Rights Activists in Iran, on the morning of Thursday October 6, intelligence agents went to Manouchehr Kholousi’s home, arrested him, and transferred him to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

A source close to the Kholousi family told a reporter from HRANA: “the arrest of Mr. Manouchehr Kholousi happened even though his summons was for next month.”

Mr. Manouchehr Kholousi was arrested in 2013 for the sixth time since the revolution of 1979 for his religious beliefs, and was sentenced by the Third Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad to 6 years in prison.  Later, the sentence was commuted on appeal to one year of imprisonment.

This Baha’is has two daughters, Nika Kholousi and Nava Kholousi, who are currently serving sentences of six and a half and four years imprisonment respectively. They have been in Vakilabad prison in Mashahd for more than two years.
