Transfer of a Baha’i from being a prisoner to internal exile

Mr. Zabihollah Raufi, a Baha’i in prison in Sanandaj, was transferred to the prison in Toyserkan after four months of incarceration in order to carry out his sentence of internal exile.

HRANA – Prisoner’s Rights: On Monday [14 Dec. 2009], Mr. Zabihollah Raufi, a Baha’I of Sanandaj, was transferred to the prison in the city of Tuyserkan to serve his sentence of internal exile.

According to the Baha’i Committee of Human Rights Activists in Iran, Mr. Zabihollah Raufi is a Baha’i of Sananadaj, who was sentenced to six months in prison for his [religious] beliefs four months ago, and has been transferred to the prison in Toysarkan after four months of indecision [by the authorities].

The prison in the city of Toyserkan does not have acceptable conditions and prisoners convicted for their beliefs are kept with other and more dangerous prisoners, without respect to the normal practice of separating [prisoners] based on their crime.
