A Baha’i Prisoner Transferred to Ward of Dangerous Inmates

HRANA- Shahram Chiniyan-Miyandvab, a Baha’i prisoner in the Raja’i Shahr prison of Karaj, has been transferred to the dangerous prisoners ward. According to the HRANA News Agency, the Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran, during the day Shahram Chiniyan-Miyandvab was transferred from the twelfth ward of Raja’i Shahr prison, which contains political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, to the first ward, which contains dangerous prisoners who have committed murder, rape, and armed robbery. An informed source spoke to HRANA regarding this: he was sent to Ward 1 of the prison for writing a letter to the Office of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah ‘Ali Khamenei, which was sent via the prison’s administrative system. Prior to this, Mr. Chiniyan was arrested in March 2008. On March 3rd, 2010, under the condition of forfeiting his business licenses as collateral, he was released from prison. During this period, he was detained in Evin prison. Mr. Chiniyan was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the 28th branch of the Revolutionary Court. However, while his verdict was still in the process of being appealed, he was summoned and arrested on January 15th 2012, and returned to Evin prison.
