Shiva Khalili, a Baha’i adherent residing in Babol (Mazandaran province), has been taken into custody and transported to Babol central prison in order to undergo the one-year imprisonment verdict.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the Baha’i adherent Shiva Khalili was taken into custody and transported to Babol Central Prison after she was summoned by the Branch of Execution of Sentences of Babol Court.
Shiva Khalili was sentenced to one year of penal detention by the first branch of the Babol revolutionary court under the charge of “propaganda against the government.” Her cellphone was also seized under the category of “crime instrument.”
In reference to this case, Mohammad Hadi Erfanian Kaseb, the lawyer for Shiva Khalili, asserted on his X account (formerly Twitter) that the verdict was issued irrespective of the explanations and evidence presented to the court.
Shiva Khalili was summoned on the phone by the first branch of prosecutors investigation of the general and revolutionary court of Babol on November 16, 2021. She was temporarily released the day after on bail, pending the end of her trial.
