Population of Combat Against Educational Discrimination (Monday, May 3, 2010): Navid Khanjani, a member of the Population of Combat Against Educational Discrimination and the Committee of Human Rights Supporters, was released on bail from Evin prison moments ago.
A student activist, Khanjani was arrested at his home in Isfahan on March 2, 2010 and held in the wing of Evin prison that is run by the Revolutionary Guards.
One of the founders of the Population of Combat Against Educational Discrimination, Khanjani has been denied the right to higher education due to his belief in the Baha’i Faith.
Iqan Shahidi, another Baha’i student who has been denied access to higher education, remains incarcerated in Evin prison. At present, Shiva Nazar-Ahari and Kouhyar Goodarzi, two other members of the Committee of Human Rights Supporters, also remain imprisoned in Evin.
