HRANA News Agency – On Sunday April 14, 2019, Zabihollah Raoufi, an elderly Baha’i citizen from Sanandaj, went to Hormozgan Province to begin his time in exile. This Baha’i citizen turned himself in to Minab County a few minutes ago. He has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment and one year of internal exile to Minab County in Hormozgan province, and was released from prison last month.
Last week, upon his release from prison, he received a subpoena summoning him to Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court of Minab Province to execute the sentence of exile.
Mr. Raufi was arrested by security forces in his home on Sept. 8, 2015, and was released on bail of 30 million Tomans (approx. $7,125) six days later.
In August, this Baha’i was charged with propaganda against the regime; he was sentenced by Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Appeal court to one year of imprisonment and one year of internal exile to Minab County in Hormozgan province.
On October 31, 2018, Mr. Raoufi travelled to Sanandej to start his year in exile. On March 12 of the same year, he was released from Sanandaj Prison during the early release of the political prisoners.
This 70-year-old Baha’i from Sanandaj was previously detained in 2009 and sentenced to one year in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime. The sentence was turned into a six-month jail term in the city of Toyserkan.
Parvaneh Rahmani, wife of Zabihollah Raoufi, who accompanied her husband during his exile, was sentenced to one year in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime. On September 3, 2018, the appeals court exonerated her and charges against her were dropped after about 10 days.

We know nothing of the hardship of internal exile in this country, these United States but we know something of heaping hardship on the innocent and the shock of loneliness seems to be the chief aim of internal exile. One can see that Sanandaj is a whole country’s distance from Minab, but with such an excellent gentleman as Mr. Raufi clearly is, one can only say, poor Sanandaj, lucky Minab. Go with God dear Mr. Raufi. May your hardship be turned to ease and may the future of sunny Minab be even more brightened by your presence.
