Dutch MEP Bastiaan Belder will host an exchange of views on the situation of human rights in Iran.

BRUSSELS (EJP)—Bastiaan Belder, a Dutch Member of the European Parliament will host Monday an exchange of views on ‘’Human rights in Iran and the EU’s Policy of Engagement’’ just as  Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will be on a visit in Brussels.

This discussion, which aims to shed light on the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses, will take place ahead of Zarif’s meeting with EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini and with the members of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee.

‘’While the current Iranian government is being hailed as reformist, the regime’s human rights record has actually worsened under President Rouhani. Over the past year, the number of public executions has sky-rocketed, the persecution of homosexuals and religious minorities like Christians and the Baha’i has increased while civil society is still being violently repressed,’’ say the AJC Transatlantic Institute and the European Conservative and Reformists group, who are organizing the discussion on human rights in Iran.

The European Parliament and other like minded governments (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc) should start a campaign to nominate the YARAN and the Baha’i Youth of Iran for the Nobel Peace Prize.
