Arrest of Foad Khanjani, an Iranian Baha’i.

HRANA – Foad Khanjani was arrested on the afternoon of 7 of Ordibehesht [27 April 2010] by Security Agents.

Foad Khanjani is the grandson of one of the seven former informal leaders of the Baha’i community [see IPW, Yaran, http://www.iranpresswatch.org/post/5881].

An aspect of the pressure on the Baha’is is that they have been arrested in increased numbers since the post-election demonstrations on the 6th of Dey (Ashura) [27 December 2009].

Mr. Jamaloddin Khanjani, Mrs. Fariba Kamalabadi, Mr. Afif Naeimi, Mr. Saeid Rezaie, Mr. Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Mr. Vahid Tizfahm, the Baha’i leaders [known as the “Friends”, or Yaran], were arrested on 25 Ordibhest 1387 [14 May 2008] at their homes. Mrs. Mahvash Sabet, also one of the Baha’i leaders, has been incarcerated since 15 Isfand 1386 [5 March 2008].
