Two Resident Baha’is Were Transferred to the Central Prison of Bandar Abbas

According to a report from Human Rights Activist News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Ms. Mahnaz Jannesar and Ms. Maral Rasti, two Baha’i residents of Hormozgan who were recently arrested, were transferred to the central prison of Bandar Abbas after being interrogated on May 15, 2017.

It has also been reported that in the past few days a group of Baha’is in the Southern cities of Iran, such as Bandar Abbas, have been arrested and interrogated.  These Baha’is were allowed only one contact with their families during their arrests, although they’ve been promised a visit with their families in the coming weeks.

In addition to Ms. Jannesar and Ms. Rasti, another Baha’i resident by the name of Nasim Qanavatian was arrested in Bandar Abbas and is still under the custody of the intelligence agency of that city.  Furthermore, two other Baha’i residents by the names of Omid Afaghi and Farhad Amri were arrested at the same time in Qeshm Island and were transferred to the Intelligence Office of Bandar Abbas.

Also, simultaneously with the arrest of the Baha’is in Bandar Abbas, a Baha’i resident of Shiraz, Mr. Adib Haghpajooh was arrested again for a multiple time in Shiraz and was transferred to the Bandar Abbas prison.  Mr. Haghpajooh is currently under interrogation similar to his other fellow Baha’is.
